Safe Dining Under the Stars

outdoor patio at juniper and ivy with happy diners under the stars and patio lights

Due to ongoing restrictions on indoor dining, our Main Dining Room is open for extremely limited reservations. While we love watching Chef Anthony Wells and his team of culinary wizards live in our open kitchen, we’re thrilled to now also welcome guests to our re-imagined outdoor space Under the Stars.

Guests will be transported to a dreamy al fresco space with only sky (and warm market lighting) above. Here’s everything you need to know…

THE SPACE

Guests have the option to be seated in our covered al fresco patio or in the re-designed space. Just enter a special request when making your reservation!

For early reservations, we have umbrellas to shade the space. For later reservations after the sun goes down, we have plenty of space heaters to add warmth.

Curious about that piece of art? We brought in a shipping container to serve as one of the walls of the space and to use as overnight storage. Local artist and friend Matt O’Campo covered it in our favorite John Lennon quote, perfectly describing the space and our current mood.

THE MENU

Chefs Anthony Wells and Masja Kojima remain true to the culinary core of Juniper and Ivy–committed to the local farmers and fishermen they’ve sourced from since day one, with distinct eye for the most pristine ingredients available. As always, the menu is filled with elevated comfort food, and is created each morning based on what is brought in that day.

But now, the menu has been re-imagined to better suit the space. The Chefs are leveraging more outdoor cooking techniques and tools like the spit, rotisserie and smoker. Seasonal ingredients shine in everything from bites to small plates and main dishes.

The menu–initially scaled back, but growing with options as we move forward–with the understanding that people don’t necessarily crave a 12-course tasting menu right now, but would prefer delicious, thoughtfully-prepared and interesting dishes, at approachable prices.

SAFETY & SANITIZATION

Tables are spaced more than 6 feet apart to allow for social distancing, and are sanitized between each seating. Reservations are limited to maintain proper spacing. Pro tip: we tend to have fewer reservations Sunday – Tuesday, if you’d like even more space to yourself!

Daily health screenings, PPE requirements and mandatory, frequent hand-washing cadence (which has been a standard since opening in 2014) are enforced for our staff.

Masks must be worn by guests while roaming the restaurant, until safely seated. If you forget yours at home, we’ve got you covered!

Menus are single-use. Restroom checks are frequent, and the venue is deep-cleaned nightly.

Indoors or out, our practices to exceed sanitization and safety recommendations remain the same. We would be happy to share in detail the procedures we have in place, and you are welcome to e-mail us at info@juniperandivy.com to learn more.

In the meantime, if you’re unable to find a reservation or you’d prefer to have your meal to-go, reserve this week’s Juniper and Ivy at Home meal in advance, or give us a call and we can package up items from that evening’s Under the Stars menu.
